The Time-Traveling Goldfish & The Great Treasure Hunt
It started as an ordinary day at Premier Estate Buyer Boca Raton.
That was until a man walked in, dripping wet, carrying a goldfish bowl with a rather… serious-looking goldfish inside.
Greg, the store manager, stared. “Uh… can I help you?”
The man, panting, slammed the bowl on the counter. "I need to sell some gold. Right now. Before they find me."
Greg blinked. "Who's 'they'?"
The goldfish flipped its tail dramatically.
“They’re talking about me.”
Greg blinked again. "Did… did your fish just talk?"
The man nodded wildly. "Yeah. It’s a time-traveling goldfish. And we just stole gold from the Boca Raton Gold Buyer of the year 3024."
Greg sighed. "Of course you did."
A Gold Heist Across Time
The goldfish, who introduced itself as Captain Gillyfin, explained the situation.
“I was a simple fish, living my life in a time-traveling tank, when I discovered a secret: in the future, gold is the only thing of value left."
Greg scratched his head. "Okay… and?"
"So I did the logical thing," Gillyfin continued. "I teamed up with this guy and pulled off the most daring gold heist in history."
Greg glanced at the very nervous man, who nodded. "It was mostly his idea."
"Now," Gillyfin continued, "the Temporal Gold Police are after us, and we need to sell this gold fast before they track us down."
Greg tapped his fingers on the counter.
"You guys robbed the future… and you came here, to a legitimate gold buyer, thinking this would be a good place to hide?"
"Well," Gillyfin said, blowing a few bubbles, "when you say it like that, it sounds dumb."
The Temporal Police Arrive
Before Greg could respond, a bright blue portal opened in the middle of the store.
Out stepped two humanoid robots in shiny gold armor.
"Hand over the fish," one of them demanded, their glowing eyes scanning the store.
Gillyfin gasped. "No! I won’t go back!"
"Sir," the second robot said, "do not interfere. This goldfish is a wanted criminal."
Greg sighed and pushed the goldfish bowl across the counter.
"Take him."
The man gasped. "Greg, how could you?!"
Greg folded his arms. "Buddy, he literally told me he committed a crime."
Gillyfin flipped angrily in the water. "You’ll regret this, Greg. One day, when the world needs me most—"
The portal snapped shut.
Greg turned to the man. "So… are you also a time criminal?"
The man glanced around nervously. "Uh… no?"
Greg narrowed his eyes. "Uh-huh. Get out."
As the nervous man sprinted away, Greg shook his head.
“Every day in this store gets weirder.”
He sighed and went back to work.
